Tell us which mountain you have in mind and we can discuss the next steps.
Plan Your AdventureWhich mountains can I explore with Olengugih Safaris?
We focus on mountain climbing and trekking experiences in Kenya and Tanzania, including Mount Kenya, Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru and Mount Ololokwe. Browse the published expeditions for available routes and durations, or contact us to discuss a private climb.
Do I need previous mountain climbing experience?
Not every trek requires technical climbing experience, but mountain conditions and altitude can still be demanding. The right trip depends on your fitness, confidence on uneven trails, available time and the route you choose. We can help you compare options before making an enquiry.
How fit should I be before a mountain trek?
You should prepare to walk for several hours on consecutive days, sometimes on steep or rocky terrain. Regular hikes, walking with a daypack and gradual endurance training can help. Consult a qualified health professional if you have concerns about physical exertion or altitude.
How do I choose the best Mount Kenya or Kilimanjaro route?
Compare the number of days, altitude profile, terrain, overnight arrangements and your preferred hiking experience. Some routes have longer approaches or additional acclimatization opportunities. Your guide and operating team should verify the proposed itinerary and its suitability before booking.
What should I know about altitude sickness?
Altitude illness can affect anyone, regardless of fitness. Headache, nausea, dizziness and unusual fatigue are possible warning signs. Tell your mountain guide immediately if symptoms appear. A safe response may require stopping your ascent or descending; extra trekking days do not guarantee acclimatization or summit success.
Can I request a private or customized mountain climb?
Yes. Olengugih Safaris focuses on private and customized climbing enquiries rather than scheduled group departures. Share your preferred mountain, dates, number of travelers and experience level so the available route and support arrangements can be discussed.
What clothing and equipment should I bring?
Typical essentials include broken-in hiking boots, warm layers, waterproof outerwear, a suitable daypack, sun protection, water containers and personal medication. Equipment and camping requirements differ by mountain and itinerary. Check the final packing list and clarify which items are supplied or available for hire.
Are park fees, meals, accommodation and transfers included?
Inclusions vary between expeditions and quotations. Review each package and request a written confirmation of park or reserve fees, guiding, porters, meals, camping or hut accommodation, transport and any equipment rental. Do not assume a service is included unless it appears in your confirmed quotation.
What happens if mountain weather changes?
Weather can change quickly with elevation, even during commonly preferred trekking months. Routes, departure times and summit plans may need to change for safety. Bring appropriate clothing and follow the decisions of the licensed operating guide and local park authorities.
How do I start planning and booking my climb?
Explore the expedition pages, choose a mountain and use the Contact page to share your intended travel period, group size and expectations. We can discuss suitable route options and provide available arrangements for confirmation before you commit to a booking.
