Who we are

Olengugih Safaris provides information and enquiry services for private mountain climbing, trekking and related travel in Kenya and Tanzania through olengugihsafaris.co.ke. For privacy questions, contact us using the contact details at the end of this page.

This policy describes how personal information is collected and handled when you browse our website, submit an enquiry, request a climbing expedition or submit a review. Our separate safari website may have its own privacy arrangements.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use our website, we may collect:

  • Contact details: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number.
  • Travel and enquiry details: preferred mountain and route, travel dates, group size, children's ages where provided, country of residence, accommodation preferences, budget range and special requests.
  • Booking details: the selected expedition, number of participants, requested travel dates and related correspondence.
  • Reviews: a display name, feedback and any other details you choose to submit. Reviews are moderated before publication.
  • Technical information: limited request and security-log information such as IP address, browser or device information, accessed URLs and request timestamps, as recorded by our hosting provider or security systems.

Please avoid putting passport numbers, payment-card details or medical information into a general enquiry unless we specifically request it through an appropriate, secure process.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide to respond to enquiries, prepare climbing itineraries and quotations, coordinate requested services, manage bookings, communicate practical travel arrangements, prevent spam or misuse, keep essential business records and improve website reliability.

We do not publish enquiry details. A submitted review is only displayed publicly after moderation, and the name displayed may be the name you provide for that purpose.

Lawful grounds and your choices

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, processing may be necessary to respond to your request or take steps toward a booking, fulfil a booking or legal obligation, protect the security of our services, or pursue proportionate legitimate operational interests. Where consent is required, including for optional non-essential tracking, we seek it separately and provide a way to withdraw it.

Choosing not to provide required contact or trip information may prevent us from responding to or arranging a requested service. Optional cookie preferences do not prevent you from browsing our expedition pages.

Sharing with service providers

We may share only the information needed to arrange a requested trip with relevant guides, accommodation providers, transport or expedition operators, park authorities, technology and hosting providers, and other parties directly involved in fulfilling the service. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect rights and safety.

We do not sell personal information. External websites linked from our pages are operated separately and their own privacy policies apply.

International travel and transfers

As our climbs cover Kenya and Tanzania and we may serve travellers in other countries, limited personal information may be shared across borders where reasonably necessary to respond to an enquiry or arrange a trip. Where applicable, we take appropriate steps to protect such transfers and follow applicable data protection requirements.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to enquiries, servicing trips, resolving complaints, maintaining appropriate records and complying with legal obligations. The period depends on the record and any applicable retention requirements; not all data has the same retention period.

Cookie preferences stored in your browser under this banner are revisited after approximately 180 days, unless you change them earlier.

Keeping information secure

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including protected administrative access, access controls, secure connections where available and controls around information submitted through our forms. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive documents through unprotected public forms.

Cookies and website storage

Our website uses essential browser storage and session mechanisms for tasks such as form protection, secure administration and preserving your cookie choice. Essential functionality remains enabled even if you reject optional categories.

  • Necessary: security and website session functions, including a PHP session cookie where applicable.
  • Consent preference: the olengugih-cookie-consent-v1 item stored in your browser's local storage for up to 180 days.
  • Analytics and marketing: optional categories are off by default. The current consent banner does not itself install an analytics or advertising platform. If optional tools are added later, they must respect your settings and this notice must be updated.

You can accept, reject or customize optional categories on your first visit, and revisit your choices using the Cookie Settings link in the footer. You can also clear browser site data to reset locally stored preferences.

External resources and linked services

Our website may request fonts from Google Fonts and telephone-input resources from a third-party content delivery network. Our interactive map features may request location searches, map tiles or geographic data from OpenStreetMap-related services, including Nominatim and Overpass. These requests may disclose technical connection data, such as your IP address, to the relevant provider when those features load.

If you use our WhatsApp contact links or follow social media links, the relevant third-party services may handle information according to their own terms. This cookie banner manages our optional tracking categories; it does not by itself disable every external resource used to render the site.

Your data protection rights

Subject to applicable law and any permitted exceptions, you may ask us whether we hold your personal information, request access or correction, raise concerns about how we use it, request deletion where appropriate, object to certain processing or withdraw consent when processing depends on consent.

Send a request using the contact address below. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may also contact the relevant data protection authority if you believe your rights have not been respected.

Children and family bookings

Our climbing and travel services may involve family travel. We ask for the minimum information relevant to planning children's participation, such as age and participant count. Parents or guardians should submit enquiries involving minors. This website is not intended to solicit personal details directly from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, data practices or legal obligations change. A revised version will be published on this page with an updated date. Where a material change affects an existing consent choice, we will seek a new choice when required.
