A Closer Connection to East Africa’s Mountains
Olengugih Safaris is focused on helping travellers discover mountain climbing experiences across Kenya and Tanzania. We believe an expedition should be understood as a complete journey, with attention given not only to the summit objective but also to the trails, changing environments, support arrangements and people encountered along the way.
There is no single mountain adventure that suits everybody. Some travellers are drawn to Mount Kenya’s steep valleys and high-altitude camps, while others dream of following Kilimanjaro’s long routes toward Uhuru Peak. For others, a challenging hike on Mount Meru or a memorable escape to Mount Ololokwe may be the right experience.
Our role is to help turn that interest into a realistic plan. We encourage travellers to compare routes, understand the physical demands of climbing, discuss their available time and ask important questions before making a commitment.
Our guiding idea is simple: a rewarding mountain experience begins with good preparation, honest expectations and respect for the journey itself.
Helping You Plan More Than a Summit Attempt
Our approach brings together the practical elements that help climbers make informed decisions before they travel.
Routes with purpose
Understanding the terrain comes first
From approach gates and walking distances to acclimatization days and descent options, we help you compare itineraries before selecting the climb that matches your goals.
Private climbing journeys
An expedition designed around your plans
Rather than advertising fixed group departures, our focus is on private and customized climbing enquiries that allow time to discuss your travel dates, available days and group requirements.
Preparation before departure
Knowing what to expect
Mountain adventures demand more than enthusiasm. We encourage fitness preparation, appropriate clothing, suitable equipment and honest conversations about altitude and the physical demands of each route.
Practical coordination
Connecting the important details
The mountain experience depends on thoughtful coordination of local guiding arrangements, transfers, accommodation, park rules, meals and support services as specified in the final quotation.
Principles That Guide Our Planning
Mountain climbing is rewarding precisely because it demands effort, attention and humility. These principles shape the conversations we have when preparing a trip.
Safety-conscious planning
We treat conditions on the mountain, altitude awareness and communication about a climber’s wellbeing as essential considerations. Reaching a summit is never a promise.
Respect for mountain environments
We encourage visitors to follow designated routes, respect park regulations and practice responsible waste handling.
Respect for local teams
Guides, cooks, porters and other support personnel contribute important knowledge and effort. Their work deserves dignity and thoughtful planning.
Clarity before commitment
We aim to discuss what the itinerary covers, what remains optional and which arrangements must be confirmed before a traveller books.
From Your First Enquiry to the Mountain Trail
Every itinerary starts with a conversation about what you hope to experience. The route, conditions and available support arrangements then shape a suitable plan.
- 01
Start with your mountain
Tell us where you would like to climb, when you hope to travel and whether you have previous trekking experience.
- 02
Compare the route options
Review durations, summit goals, terrain, overnight stops and acclimatization opportunities.
- 03
Prepare your expedition
Discuss equipment, training, local logistics, confirmed services and important health and travel preparations.
- 04
Follow the mountain plan
Climb with the arrangements confirmed for your itinerary, while allowing responsible changes when weather or individual wellbeing requires them.
Mountain conditions may change, and no itinerary can remove every risk. Important operational details, including guide arrangements and any safety-related changes, must be confirmed with the mountain operator before departure.

Explore MountainMount Meru
Mount Meru is known for its volcanic landscape and demanding upper ridges. It can be a rewarding mountain objective in its own right.
Explore MountainMount Ololokwe
An engaging northern Kenya mountain experience with distinctive plateau scenery, changing light and opportunities for shorter hiking adventures.
Explore MountainRespect for the Trail, the Team and the Climber
We believe the way an expedition is planned matters as much as its destination. Responsible decisions must consider climber wellbeing, local support teams, protected landscapes and the realities of high-altitude travel.
Altitude and changing weather
Higher mountains can bring cold temperatures, strong winds and significant altitude-related challenges. We encourage appropriate itineraries, early symptom reporting and a willingness to adjust plans in consultation with the operating guide.
Mountain support teams
Climbing guides, assistant guides, cooks, porters and logistical partners contribute important work. We value respectful communication and responsible arrangements for the people supporting each trip.
Protecting the places we visit
Mountain environments are fragile. Visitors should observe park rules, stay on designated routes where required, avoid littering and minimize unnecessary disturbance to wildlife and vegetation.
A Few Things Travellers Often Ask
Clear expectations help you make informed decisions. Here are some useful points to consider before choosing an expedition.
Do you organize private mountain expeditions?
Our focus is on private and customized climbing enquiries. The final arrangements depend on the mountain, route, dates, group needs and local operating requirements.
Can beginners enquire about mountain climbing?
Yes. Tell us about your fitness, hiking background and travel plans so we can discuss appropriate routes. A beginner-friendly route is not automatically easy or free from altitude risks.
Are flights, park fees and mountain equipment included?
There is no single inclusion list that applies to every climb. We clarify park fees, transport, accommodation, meals, personal equipment, support services and any exclusions in the final written quotation.
Is reaching the summit guaranteed?
No. Weather, altitude symptoms, fitness and other factors can affect any summit attempt. The operating guide must be able to change plans when safety requires it.
