Ngulia Safari Lodge
Built-in 1969, Ngulia Safari Lodge is located in Tsavo West National Park, home to a big host of wild animals. Visitors can access the Lodge accessed from Nairobi (260 km away), through Mtito Andei Gate, or from Mombasa (250 km away) through Tsavo River Gate. The Lodge is perched on the Ndawe Escarpments just below Ngulia Hills, overlooking THE RHINO SANCTUARY surrounded by Scenic Hills.
Mzima Springs
Ngulia Safari Lodge undoubtedly has one of Kenya’s most breathtaking views. Guests take guided expeditions to Mzima Springs (a living oasis inhabited by fish, crocodiles, and hippos). Mzima Springs are replenished with millions of liters of crystal-clear water every day. It comes from the underground streams flowing from the nearby Chyulu Hills.
Mzima in English means “Life.” It attracts rich wildlife, such as elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and giraffes wandering around the banks through the thick acacias and raffia palms. Monkeys and birds, too, constitute the surrounding population. Mzima is also the main source of Mombasa’s city water supply. There are well-marked nature trails and an observation platform. You can take a walk guided by a ranger to Mzima.
Shetani Lava Flow
Another sight is the Shetani Lava flow which means “devil” when translated into English. The name was coined by locals around 500 years ago when they first saw fire erupting and flowing on the ground. They believed the devil himself emerging from the earth. The shetani black lava flow is 8km long,1.6 km wide, and 5 meters deep. The sight is spectacular.
The other wonder of Tsavo is the five sister hills. The hills are identical cone-shaped hills located in one area and resemble one another.
The Rhino Sanctuary
Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary is a private-public partnership. The Sanctuary aims to protect the rhinos as well as developing more technology for the rangers to monitor the rhinos. So far, 20 Black Rhinos have been released from the Rhino sanctuary into the lodge’s Intensive Protection Zone (IPZ) neighborhood. As a result of their efforts, there have been slightly more successive births. Security has been enhanced, and the Rhinos are safe in the park.
Hotel Amenities
Ngulia Safari Lodge has 52 standard rooms with bathrooms refurbished with showers and a balcony with a view of the vast wilderness. The restaurant is built in an open-air style and has a view of the floodlit water hole. Guests can enjoy their meals by watching the animals drink water and the birds compete in their melodies.
There are three bars; the Nyati bar in the main restaurant. The Rhino Bar opens in the evenings, where guests relax as they mesmerize by the beauty of the wilderness. The Leopard cocktail bar with a strategic view is where guests can watch animals arrive at the water hole while taking their drinks served by their customer-friendly waiters.
Ngulia Safari Lodge is the ideal place for team-building activities to improve team dynamics, build trust, and facilitate communication and teamwork. Do light activities at the lodge’s public areas, swimming pool, and the staff football pitch.
Do a fitness level test with a climb of Chaimu Lava. Challenging it is, but ideal to bring out team spirit in a work environment. All done! Sit back, relax and hold a small party and story tale by a bonfire.
