Lake Mburo National Park

Lake Mburo National Park Overview

Lake Mburo National Park is one of Uganda’s most beautiful and accessible safari destinations. Located in western Uganda between Kampala and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the park covers approximately 370 square kilometers of rolling savannah, acacia woodland, wetlands, and scenic lakes. Although it is Uganda’s smallest savannah national park, Lake Mburo offers exceptional wildlife viewing, breathtaking landscapes, and peaceful safari experiences.

The park is famous for its rich population of zebras, impalas, buffaloes, giraffes, elands, hippos, and warthogs. It is the only national park in Uganda where visitors can easily spot impalas and enjoy horseback safaris among free-roaming wildlife. Lake Mburo National Park is also home to more than 350 bird species, making it one of the best birdwatching destinations in Uganda.

Unlike many crowded safari parks in East Africa, Lake Mburo offers a calm and relaxed atmosphere ideal for nature lovers, photographers, and travelers seeking a quieter safari experience. The combination of open grasslands, wooded hills, and shimmering lakes creates stunning scenery throughout the park.
