Major Park Highlights

Nairobi National Park

Nairobi National Park has always been unique as the only capital city park with free-roaming wildlife. Its fee rises from USD 43 to USD 80, nearly doubling the cost. The adjustment reflects the park’s high demand and central location.

Amboseli and Lake Nakuru National Parks

Both Amboseli and Lake Nakuru are now categorized as premium safari destinations. Entry charges climb from USD 60 to USD 90 per adult. These parks are known for breathtaking views of elephants with Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop in Amboseli and the flamingo-rich Rift Valley lake at Nakuru.

Tsavo East and Tsavo West

Covering vast landscapes, Tsavo East and Tsavo West are famous for elephants, lions, and diverse terrain. Their rates move from USD 52 to USD 80, representing one of the biggest fee adjustments across Kenya’s protected areas.

Hell’s Gate National Park

Hell’s Gate, popular for cycling and hiking safaris, remains one of the more affordable options despite its increase. Entry doubles from USD 25 to USD 50, making it still attractive for day trips and outdoor activities.

Why the Increase?

The new fee structure is designed to generate more resources for conservation. Wildlife protection, anti-poaching initiatives, and park maintenance all require significant investment. KWS intends these changes to reduce dependency on external funding and ensure sustainable tourism.

Important Notes for Visitors

  • Rates apply to non-resident adults; other categories, such as residents, children, and students, will have separate charges.

  • Annual passes and special packages may be available for frequent travelers.

  • Always confirm rates directly with the KWS Ecitizen Portal or your tour operator before travel.

Final Thoughts

The new KWS park entry fees, effective from 1st October 2025, bring substantial increases across major destinations. Nairobi rises from USD 43 to 80, Amboseli and Nakuru from USD 60 to 90, Tsavo East and West from USD 52 to 80, and Hell’s Gate from USD 25 to 50.

Though costs are higher, the changes are intended to strengthen conservation and improve services for future generations of visitors. When planning your safari, factor in the new rates to ensure a smooth and well-budgeted trip.
